G'Day! Tmkeel,
Cool Post, You see it all the time on topics from Globabl Climate Change to Evolution... and the "struggle" isn't a new one. We've been debating this issue in one form or another since the dawn of time. Think Middle Ages and radicals proposing such concepts as "gravity" or the "earth is not flat."

Yet, here we are today and there are still those who are certain that science is "evil" and conversely, religious people are "ignorant".

Why do you think this hasn't been resolved in the last Millenium or so (if you think we've been around that long)?

Can't the two co-exist? What is wrong with a scientist looking at "God's" creation in awe and yearning to understand it deeper? What is so threatening about evolution? God rules, right, so why couldn't he display his awesomeness by putting a planetary (heck a universe) model in motion?

Why can't the Bible be a mythology designed to explain what we couldn't comprehend in ancient times?
Nice One!

So, the fact that evangelical women are raised to believe that they’re not supposed to have authority in a church and how often Paul is referenced in how women should behave in church (Don’t speak! Be meek! Be humble!) has nothing to do with it?

If this Mr. Craig comes across half as condescending in person as he does in this one (very short) post, there is no reason to wonder why the women don’t speak up at his talks! Either they view HIM as intellectually inferior, or they assume that he has no interest in what they have to say. You can not insult a person’s intelligence and then wonder why they choose to not engage you in an intellectual discussion.

Know what the real difference is between the Downton Abbey talk and any talk that this man gives? The women and their questions are VALUED at the Downton Abbey talk.

Also, I must know, why is this post supposedly about attracting men to church when 3/4 of it is actually about women? Poor writing? Bait and switch?

Professor Olsen is on record: There is an e-mail floating around the internet dealing with the 2000 Bush/Gore election, remarks of a Scotish philosopher named Alexander Tyler, etc. Part of it is attributed to me. It is entirely BOGUS as to my authorship. I've been trying to kill it since December 2000. For details see: http://www.snopes.com/politics/quotes/tyler.asp."
This type stuff works, it scares people. Scared people close their eyes, yearn to go “bach” to the good old days when rich people signed their paychecks and people of color knew their place. Most importantly scared people are ripe for manipulation and misdirection. FOX knows this, the Koch brothers know this, and Governor Walker knows this. The poor, the migrant, the welfare mom, the union worker, become the target. And it is working.

Benton, It sounds as if you are an editor. Either that or you are a marketing major. If you will notice, the subtitle of my WordPress blog is “a place to put things.” And, that is simply what this is. I have an interest in so many different topics that when I find something that interests me, unlike previously when I would clip articles and place them in a folder, I now store them electronically and access them at any time. If others find them and pique their interests, that is fine with me, however, that is not my primary focus. Although, I am very grateful for the suggestions and were I a “real” blogger, I would definitely follow that. What I am doing at this point in my life, as a senior citizen who is retired, is to take all my photographs, papers, movies, etc. and digitizing them so that my children will not have mountains of things to go through upon my departure, everything will be in digital formats, stored both on-site and in the cloud. Please contact me at any time with any suggestions that you may have. I enjoy hearing from others.
